Un 22 de agosto, pero de 1846, fue cuando el británico William John Thoms crea el vocablo folklore (FOLK = pueblo, y LORE = sabiduría), la que se publicó por primera vez en el número 982 de la revista Athenaeum. A partir del año 1960, este día (22 de agosto), tiene el reconocimiento de UNESCO.
